Jon Gordon does an excellent job explaining the concept that we all have two dogs inside of us. One dog is positive, optimistic, cheerful, happy, and grateful. The other dog is negative, sad, mad, pessimistic, and fearful. This book is a simple story about the power of positivity. This story takes much of the research on positivity and makes it simple and fun so anybody including a child can benefit from reading ¨The Positive Dog.¨ One of the core values of Jon Gordon's company is ¨simple is powerful¨ and that's exactly what this story embraces. The story is about a talking dog that learns to be more positive through the mentoring of another dog. Yes, the dogs talk to one another and that's what makes the story fun, entertaining, and allows you, the reader, to experience the benefits of being positive. The book contains several strategies and an action plan to help you become a more positive person, improve your direction, and your quality of life.
This was an excellent book to read at the beginning of the school year. As a building administrator the more I can feed my positive dog the more I can infuse others around me with positive energy. I can choose to be blessed or stressed, have fear or faith, inherit challenges or opportunities, turn complaints into solutions, and I can get to instead of have to. You see it's all how you view your circumstances and this is what this story is all about. So, I encourage you to get a copy of this book and start feeding your positive dog and starving your negative dog.
